My Reading Pile {16}

Haul-16
MRP_Descrip_2

I got a few lovely books/ARCs in the mailbox this week – all with a maroon-y/reddish theme – and even picked up a few eARCs. I would love to be able to put a few of them on the pile this week, but as I am still playing catch up they will all have to wait until late-February/early-March.

Instead of diving into my planned reads and tackling reviews for books I need to have reviewed for Monday and Tuesday of this week, I went on a crazy reading binge and managed to re-read five of the six Shifters books by Author Rachel Vincent. And I somehow managed to write a couple of reviews – who needs sleep anyway?

While I didn’t get the chance to read last week’s wishful thinking read, I opted to add it to the pile this week. Though I did find a new book for the wishful thinking reads list that I definitely wish I could read right now.

When her brother is arrested for treason, Laia goes undercover as a slave at the empire’s greatest military academy in exchange for assistance from rebel Scholars who claim that they will help to save her brother from execution.

ELIAS is the academy’s finest soldier— and secretly, its most unwilling. Elias is considering deserting the military, but before he can, he’s ordered to participate in a ruthless contest to choose the next Martial emperor.

When Laia and Elias’s paths cross at the academy, they find that their destinies are more intertwined than either could have imagined and that their choices will change the future of the empire itself.

I spent the entire week binge re-reading a series that I loved in order to be ready for the new spinoff series the author is writing and to read a short story spinoff that has been begging to be read on my Kindle. I also did not get the chance to really tackle last week’s reads or write too many reviews. But sometimes you just have to go off-pile and read a book – or five – that you have been dying to re-read.
