DESCRIPTION

The time has come for one winner to be crowned.

When she was chosen to compete in the Selection, America never dreamed she would find herself anywhere close to the crown—or to Prince Maxon’s heart. But as the end of the competition approaches, and the threats outside the palace walls grow more vicious, America realizes just how much she stands to lose—and how hard she’ll have to fight for the future she wants

REVIEW

THE ONE is one of those books that makes you anxious about how things will end before you even start reading it. It makes you bite your nails wondering who Prince Maxon will choose. It makes you wonder who you really want him to choose. Because if his choice is America, then what does that mean for Aspen?

This third installment in The Selection answers all of those burning questions by the story’s end. It hints, it teases, but it prolongs the inevitable, making for a deliciously torturous wait for answers. It is every bit as addictive and exciting as its predecessors. But the stakes are higher, the threats are deadlier, and the outcome is even more uncertain. It is a read you won’t want to set down for even a second.

The story picks up shortly after where THE ELITE left off. The rebels are becoming even more bold in their attacks. The king is still dead set on eliminating America from the competition. The prince has yet to narrow down his choices. And America still hasn’t come clean about the secrets she’s been keeping or figured out a way to ensure that she’ll be the one.

Kiera Cass has written a series that is immensely entertaining – a total guilty pleasure read and so much more – with a series-ending story that is gripping and incredibly suspenseful, filled with action, heartbreak and loss. She created tension with the competition, with the unrest due to King Clarkson’s reign, with not one but two love triangles, with the roller-coaster of a love story. She created characters worth rooting for. She created a society worth fighting for. She created an ending where the reader’s happiness may depend on just whose team they were on.

With plenty of story left to tell in THE ONE, the pace doesn’t let up for a minute. From the numerous attacks on the Palace and beyond, to the risky secret meetings and alliances, to the shocking turn of events right at the end, it’s unrelenting. And with the ability to get to know each of the four girls better and witness their camaraderie knowing there will be heartbreak in store for three of them, there is more than enough to keep readers engaged.

Incredibly appealing, thoroughly romantic, and totally action-packed, THE ONE is the thrilling and climactic end to this captivating story that is part fairy tale, part cutthroat competition, part dystopian, part fantasy and altogether awesome.
