DESCRIPTION

Beautiful Creatures meets The Body Finder in this spellbinding new trilogy.

Three plantations. Two wishes. One ancient curse.

All her life, Barrie Watson has been a virtual prisoner in the house where she lives with her shut-in mother. When her mother dies, Barrie promises to put some mileage on her stiletto heels. But she finds a new kind of prison at her aunt’s South Carolina plantation instead–a prison guarded by an ancient spirit who long ago cursed one of the three founding families of Watson Island and gave the others magical gifts that became compulsions.

Stuck with the ghosts of a generations-old feud and hunted by forces she cannot see, Barrie must find a way to break free of the family legacy. With the help of sun-kissed Eight Beaufort, who knows what Barrie wants before she knows herself, the last Watson heir starts to unravel her family’s twisted secrets. What she finds is dangerous: a love she never expected, a river that turns to fire at midnight, a gorgeous cousin who isn’t what she seems, and very real enemies who want both Eight and Barrie dead.

“Darkly romantic and steeped in Southern Gothic charm, you’ll be compelled to get lost in the Heirs of Watson Island series.” — #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Jennifer L. Armentrout.

I am so excited to be a part of the COMPULSION Blog Tour. Of course I’m even more excited that COMPULSION comes out in just four days so that I can finally read this book I’ve been anxiously awaiting for months!

For my tour stop I have a very awesome guest post from Barrie and Eight in which they each talk just a little bit about one another. And if I hadn’t already wanted to meet them, after reading what they had to say about each other I would have definitely added them to my list of must meet characters.

Just four more days….

GUEST POST

Thanks so much for having me here today to share a few thoughts from Barrie and Eight about each other. I have to say, this was a TOUGH assignment, because at the end of COMPULSION they know far less about each other than they do in the book I just finished revising, PERSUASION. But here goes. : )

Eight Beaufort? He’s maddening and beautiful. Beautifully maddening. He pushes all my buttons in the worst and best possible ways, but mostly I think that’s because of his gift. It’s hard having someone know what you want before you figure it out yourself. That’s hard on him too, though, and I love that he fights his gift instead of being a know-it-all like his father.

I love the way he shoves his hands in his pockets when he’s trying to think, and the way he’s always a gentleman even when he does’t want to be. I love his hard jaw and kind eyes, the way his hair falls in his face. Mostly, I love that he sees me.

He’s pretty much the king of this island. Girls fall all over themselves for him, guys look up to him, people trust him. But none of that matters to him—he’s genuinely just trying to do the best for people. His dyslexia has made him self-conscious, but he’s smart. He thinks things through carefully, and I admire that. For him, I’ll even sit through a baseball game or two.

I was ready to run far away from Watson Island until Barrie came. As long as I stay here, I’ll always be a number and not a person. Just one more Charles Beaufort in a long line of Charles Beauforts. Everyone thinks they know who I am and what I’m going to become. But Barrie shakes me up and makes me see myself and this whole island differently. She’s magic—I mean, of course she’s got the Watson magic, but it’s more than that. She’s magical. I can be arguing with her one minute, and the next second I’m grinning ear to ear. She wakes me up, makes me feel alive, makes me want to be a better person. I both love and hate how insanely brave and stubborn she is. I definitely love how she wants to see the best in everyone, even when the people she tries to befriend have no good within them. She isn’t like anyone I’ve ever met. Even the things she wants are interesting—more about other people than herself.
